Jared Rusten: I was always interested in building and making things I.... Build a lot of skateboard ramps. And I was always that kid that liked building the skateboard ramp than actually skating on it.  My name is Jared Rusten and  I am a furniture designer/ maker.

When I was in high school I came from a fairly humble background. It just didn't seem like  college was that much of an option. I went to a community college that focus specifically on a wood working program. And then I started apprenticing with a bunch of other professional master craftsmen and wood workers who are all around the Los Angles area.

I moved actually from L.A. Where I was apprenticing back to San Jose where I had grown up, And, collected some tools of my own, and just, was put in touch with a guy who said, "I want an entertainment center". And so, I took the deposit for that entertainment center. I got my first workshop space.

And from that one entertainment center, I ended up building and entertainment center for  his neighbor. And then, got refereed to build a staircase. Also work with some corporate buyers. One of the designers, who was in charge decorating the google offices decided, "We want a California table in there" So they called me up and I delivered one to them.

When I start building a piece of furniture usually it starts with either I am recognizing a need or, clients come to me. Then I go to a sketch book. Where I am just doodling, sketching really conceptual forms. And then, I'll get a big  piece of tag board and I will actually  draw the chair to scale.

And make sure that I got all of the  measurements, dimensions dialed in that's actually going to work, before I start  Building the final product. I never thought that i'd be using math as much as I do now. And I was never very good at math. Its something that become second nature and, you know, I definitely wish I payed a little bit  more attention sometimes When you have a one man shop with maybe a few assistants your'e running a business, and you really need to  understand how to reach and connect with people.

And so, A big part is communication. When a interior designer comes in, especially when she is spending her clients money,  she wants to be able to trust this person that she's handing this job off to. For the desk size we have, um, this is an 86' inch size. We could either make this as a  huge coffee table, but usually this is a desk size.

(Indistinguishable chatter) ... I've definitely learned it the hard way that this isn't just a playground even though, you know, having a wood shop is this really fun idea. The thing I love the most is just the act of creation. Of having an idea, taking just a concept or a sketch and making it  this tangible object, that..., Could bring tears to somebody's eyes..

BARBIE Bedroom Dollhouse Makeover With New Barbie Furniture

Hey, everyone. Its Sandra from the Disney
CarToys Channel, and today, I am doing a special collab with the Channel Dollyrama.
Its a really fun channel, which features tons of dolls, which I love, of course.
So, Danielle on Dollyrama, I noticed that a lot of my Barbie stuff needs a little
updating. You see, we have the 1990s Barbie doll wearing 90s clothes, and her
bedroom is very 90s as well. The bed is actually something that I had when I was a
kid, and the chair and the house plant like I dont know anyone who has houseplants
anymore, and I use Barbie Kelly dolls instead of Chelsea dolls, so Im a
little stuck in the past.

So Danielle and Violet sent me a whole bunch of really cool
Barbie stuff that I can use to upgrade at my Barbie bedroom. So, heres some of
it. First of all, we have this brand new Barbie bed set. Its a twin bed, but turns
into a day bed as well.

Plus it comes with an updated Barbie, which I probably really
need. She also sent this really cute Barbie Beauty Corner. So, its like a closet,
and a vanity, even a cute little display for your Barbies accessories. And to modernize
my dolls as well, we have a brand new Barbie dress, and a Chelsea, which is
the older version of Kelly.

Lets get cracking by getting rid of all this ugly doll
furniture. Also, make sure to check out the Dollyrama Channel, because I give them
everything they needed to upgrade their Barbie living room. So, to begin, Im
using new wallpaper for my Barbie bedroom with this cute bubbly and flashy background,
and I add a carpet. Heres our new Barbie bed.

It is way more modern
than my ugly cushy one, and Barbie looks very updated too. Shes less 1990s
tan, shes got better makeup, her hairstyle is a little better. And this bed
Im super-excited about, because its really versatile. So, if you take off the pillow
and the blanket, then it turns into more of a day bed, or couch, so Barbie can invite some
friends over.

It looks like it would fit at least four or five dolls. Or, she can use
it as a bed, so it would actually be perfect for a studio apartment, too. The next
thing Im going to add to upgrade Barbies bedroom is this Beauty Corner,
which is a dressing room, and it has a mirror plus closet. And while Barbies bedroom
looks so amazing, its night and day from the old, hideously ugly bedroom.
First of all, with the Beauty Corner Kit, we have this really cool like unique, it almost
looks like a hat rack, but its actually an accessory rack.

You can hang up hats too,
but Ive put some of Barbies purses on there. But the closet beauty desk combo
is what I like the most. It comes with so many accessories and tons of storage. The
closets actually really cool because its overlaid with this glass door.

It comes
with two hangars. We probably need to buy some more hangars if we want to help hang
up all of Barbies clothes, cause whew! Shes got a lot of clothes. Plus,
theres three different shelves for shoes for Barbie on this side. The vanity is cool, but
one thing that cracks me up is it comes with this picture frame of Barbie dressed
up in a wedding dress, and we have a cordless phone, so thats a little 90s.
And theres a stool right here for Barbie to sit at so she can do her hair and makeup in
her bedroom.

And the last items I got from Dollyrama is this Chelsea doll and Barbie
dress, so lets add these to the makeover. Check out Barbie, she looks gorgeous
in her new dress. Its a very modern dress, and the one thing I like about
it is theres this blue checkered print underneath the purple skirt. You would never
even know its blue under there.

Its kind of cool. And heres our Chelsea doll.
She is dressed in her jammies which is perfect for our new bedroom, and one thing
I like about Chelsea versus the Kelly dolls is shes a lot taller because shes
