How to Apply A Stencil on Furniture

How to Apply A Stencil to Furniture For todays tutorial you will need:
A Project that you wish to stencil and a coordinating paint color. Today we are using Vintage Storehouse
Chalk Based paint in the color Cotton. A Paper plate and a some paper towels
A Stiff bristled brush or a stencil brush Masking Tape
A Stencil - today we are using this french script stencil by Royal Design Studio. Step 1: Make sure the surface of your project
is clean of any dust or oil residue and align your stencil where you want your design.

For
this project, we want to continue the stencil down from the drawer above. Tape it in place
with masking tape or adhesive. Step 2: Apply the paint to the stencil. The
key to getting a good stencil is too apply a very small amount of paint at a time.

Dip
the tip of your brush into your paint and wipe the excess of on a paper plate or paper
towel, so that only a small amount is still on the brush. Then apply over your stencil
in a swirling motion, making sure to get into all the small lines. Step 3: Remove the stencil immediately and
let the paint dry. Step 4: Repeat steps1 through 3, realigning
your stencil until the entire surface is covered.

Step 5: Once youve finished applying the
stencil, you might with to touch up a few areas with a small detail brush. Maintenance:
We recommend sealing in your painted stencil with a layer of wax, polyurethane or hemp
seed oil prior to heavy use. We chose to apply antiquing powder and a layer of wax to finish
this project. And thats how you apply a
stencil to furniture..
